What is T-mobilitat?

T-mobilitat is a new, more convenient and sustainable way to use public transport in Barcelona. It replaces traditional paper tickets with a digital system that offers both a physical card and a virtual card through the TMB app. This innovative system allows seamless travel on different modes of public transport, including metro, bus, tram and Rodalies trains. We recommend that you opt for the personalised physical card, and we'll explain why below.

   With T-mobilitat, you can easily recharge your card online, eliminating the need to visit ticket machines. The card works on multiple modes of transport, offering seamless transfers between metro, bus, tram and train in the Barcelona area.

   If you're under 30, you can benefit from a special fare: three months of unlimited public transport in the Barcelona area for just €42.70. If you're over 30, there's also a great deal - 30 days of unlimited travel for just €21.35. These offers make T-mobilitat an economical choice for frequent travellers.

How to Get T-mobilitat

There are several ways to obtain your T-mobilitat card:

1. Online:

• Download the TMB App or visit the TMB Tickets website.
• Choose the T-mobilitat option and select whether you want the physical card or the virtual version.
• Note: Currently, you can only choose one format—either physical or virtual.

2. In Person:

• Visit a T-mobilitat kiosk. Be sure to book an appointment (cita previa) in advance.
• If you prefer, you can also buy the anonymous T-mobilitat card from ticket machines in metro stations. However, this version only allows access to certain types of tickets, such as the T-casual (10 trips), T-grup (70 trips in 30 days for multiple users) and T-familiar (8 trips in 30 days for multiple users).

Our Personal Recommendation

We highly recommend that you obtain a personalised physical card. Although the virtual card offers convenience, carrying a physical card is more practical in Barcelona due to the city's notorious pickpocketing problems. If your phone is lost or stolen, or if its battery dies, you could be left without access to your ticket and risk a fine if checked by a conductor. The physical card is easy to carry, easy to recharge via the app or at metro stations and gives you access to all available ticket types. It's the most reliable way to make sure you always get where you need to go without any trouble.
